Quick update on one of our featured "33 Wikis."
Internet Brands acquired two wiki-based travel sites: Wikitravel, which we featured recently as Wiki #17, and World66. Both sites are popular destinations. Internet Brands owns a number of ad-supported sites such as Cars Direct and Autos.com, and it plans to introduce ads to the two travel wikis. As Ross Mayfield (Socialtext) pointed out earlier in the week, Wikitravel and World66 both operate under a Creative Commons license, so we will have to see how the communities react to this change. In the meantime, check out Wikitravel's excellent wiki page about the acquisition -- superior to anything they could have done in a press release.
Giovanni: Thanks for the kind note about the acquisition notification on Wikitravel. I think our community is going to remain the main focus of the site for the time being.
